Serie B players to honor Morosini by wearing No.25 shirts

Everyone in Italy’s second tier will pay homage to the deceased midfielder in the next round, with the competition's chief vowing to prevent similar incidents from happening again

Serie B president Andrea Abodi has announced that every player in the competition will wear a shirt with the No.25 stamped on the back in the upcoming round of fixtures.

The move comes as a tribute to Livorno midfielder Piermario Morosini, who died after suffering a suspected heart attack during a Serie B match at Pescara on Saturday.

"Next weekend, all players will wear a shirt with Morosini's No.25," Abodi told ANSA.

The Serie B chief went on to insist that he is determined to prevent similar situations from happening again.

"Our task is to find solutions to save the lives of all those who may suffer from the same problem," he added.

Vicenza announced on Sunday that it will retire the No.25 jersey in honor of Morosini, who played at the club between 2007 and 2009.
